Allods Online Review It's not WoW

If you started the game with the Imperial faction, you've already experienced what a ship looks like. You eventually get to control your own Astral ship. Like in burmtig real ships, owning one takes time and a lot of money. However the benefits of having a ship really outweighs the cons. You get to travel around and see the beautiful world of Allods. You can also experience ship-to-ship battles similar to what you experienced when you started with the Imperials. The Astral Ship experience doesn't stop with just the creation. Astral Ships need to be manned too. Similar to real ships you need to have a navigator, helmsman, engineer, repairmen and of course gunners. I haven't seen how this works in the real player perspective but as far as I can see this can work out especially if you have friends who can man those posts in your ship.。

There are a lot of faction centric features in Allods Online. Most of them concentrate on faction vs. faction warfare. However there is one game system in Allods that doesn't consider a groups faction in segregating players. It's the official alternative for questing, PvE and PvP. It's Goblinball. The objective of the game is to kick the goblin that serves as the ball into the enemy's goal. Similar to soccer your task is to defend your goal while scoring. Goblinball is an ermtnble sport/mini-game to play. It successfully gives players another thing to look forward to aside from the daily grind.。

Allods is a grinding, story-driven MMORPG. Your main way of levelling in Allods is through the quests, which NPCs will provide for you. Grinding alone will take a while because the quests provide more experience points. I think this levelling system really forces you to do the quests. A lot of pla who are used to grinding will find it unacceptable that you are relying on quests to level up. Though I think this works well for Allods because it emphasizes that the game is story driven. However, relying heavily on quests in Allods may in fact be bad in the long run. Repetitive questing can take a toll on players and can eventually make them quit the game.。

Personally, when I saw the game tra and heard of the pertinent game features I wanted to jump the gun and play Allods. Now it seems that I was justified on hoping that I would get myself into a great game. I don't think Allods Online will ever topple WoW. However, Allods for sure will provide good competitive encouragement for MMO developers because there's a F2P of this calibre. I cannot say that Allods is a perfect MMO at the moment, because it's just in OBT. The game has a lot of potential and I'd be keeping my eye out for game updates in the future.。

The job system in Allods is similar to a lot of MMORPGs out there. There are no faction exclusive jobs in Allods. The jlass' names may be different but the classes have a corresponding "alternate" job in the opposite faction.。

Allods mages are not overpowered. Magic spells can actually miss in Allods. Though the spells still retain the magic attribute, it is not guaranteed that they will always hit. According to one player who I was able to talk to, he mage is a crit type. Anyone aneryone who has played a lot of MMOs would think that is weird. However, based on what I experienced with my summoner, I think that's a good way of allocating points.。

There have been a lot of MMOs lately that have taken the WoW interface and it in their own MMORPG. Developers who have taken this route have had hits and misses which ended in the labelling of their MMORPGs as mere "WoW Clones". Allods Online is a good example of such an MMO. You can see a lot of WoW elements incorporated to its interface and gameplay. However, what separates Allods Online from other half-baked MMORPGs is that it has managed to refine itself into an MMO that can get the attention of even a jaded gaming market.。

I cannot deny the similarities that Allods has with World of Warcraft. However, I was very surprised that the game not follow with a cinematic opening. Once you create your character (belonging to either the League or the Imperial side) you are immediately put into the middle of the action.  The game practically puts you right in the middle of the story, which is similar to Dungeons & Dragons Online. You actually get to see how the story develops. On the League side you actually witness a change in the environment when you are invaded by the enemy. In the Imperial side you are given a taste of what you will be experiencing and what it means to be part of a ship. I was really taken aback with what I saw in the game because you can only experience these things when you're playing a P2P MMORPG.。

Character selection on the other hand reminded me of Neosteam. The Gibberlings were the Allod version of Neosteams furry Poms. Elves meanwhile, have wings. Yes, that's right, all elves in Allod have wings (nice going Allods team, another game that exemplifies the "feminine" nature of elves, male or female. Personally though I'm a League summoner so I'm really complaining). The game pushes the archetypical classifications of a lot of the races found in MMORPGs. However I personally don't think you will notice much because the character des are so good.。

Another unique system in Allods Online is that there is a stat allocation system. Unlike other MMORPGs of this calibre, you can allocate stat points. The levelling system in Allods is similar to a lot of stat based MMORPGs out there. It means that you geat points whenever your character levels. There is still a job and class locked growth system in Allods but with the stat system in place, you can actually customize and create your own build. I personally think that the Allods game system is a refreshing take on character development. People who are used to mages always hitting and nuking inform the sidelines are forced to rethink their strategy in Allods.。

The Age of Suffering The Torture of MMOs

Although the whole idea of grinding is welcomed by some players, it does make character progress (level-wise and financial-wise) a bit slower than usual. Most games tend to lack enough quests to fill your experience bar, leaving you to grind on monsters until the next level quests become available. It really gets annoying at times especially when KSers (Kill Stealers) hog the leveling grounds. A good example would have to be RF Online. The game grants you quests each time you reach a level. After fulfilling the requirements and receiving your quest rewards, you see that you still have 80% of your experience bar to finish, meaning you will have to jump into the KrmtShpit until you move on to the next area along with the other high level KSers.。"I HAVE FINALLY REACHED THE MAX LEVEL! LET'S WIN THE EMPERIUM!" "UHH... DUDE... YOUR GEAR SUCKS"。 。 。After all the grinding, the walking and the power struggles, some games actually block your progress until you purchase the expansions. It's actually the same as console gaming, where they stated that upgrades will be done through online updates but will eventually have another game launched with a few minor tweaks.。One thing you just got to hate with MMOs is that they never really let you see how powerful you are. Yes they do increase your skill level, giving you more gimmicks to help you in battle, but things always get harder every time you get stronger. Why can't they just let you enjoy killing monsters at your level instead of making you grind on higher mobs after leveling up? Great! They increased our arsenal, now let's band together because they are much stronger than us now. You also have the option of farming the monsters rmtysed to level on, but that wouldn't do you much good as they now offer a crappy amount of experience.。 。 。MMO games that features mounts in general often make their players crawl in their early levels, making them walk great distances, while at the samee being passed by other players who have achieved their mount-level (CURSES!!!). Some games also make it extremely hard for players to earn one, charging them a silly amount of gold or even making them acquire it through the low probability of crafting ("Here it comes! Pray that this succeeds... I spent 20k gold for the materials!"... FAIL). I'm just guessing, maybe it's the same as people getting their driver's license, but it's not like the characters in the game are that young, so that's just being cruel. Other than mounts, some MMOs also charge you just so you can travel to your current leveling grounds, forcing you to buy tickets for something mandatory in your character's progress.。 。MMOs tend to make your character suffer during their early stages. This makes creating a new character a bit troublesome for most people, especially if they are used to riding jetpacks or mounts to cover more ground. Where's that pet when you need it? How much more XP to the next level? Sorry my friend, but you'll just have to keep going until you can train your new skills. Join me as we point out the underlying torture schemes of the MMO world, shedding some light at what makes players squirm for progress.。 。"BUY SUPER STREET FIGHTER 4! We have extra characters and a cool SUPER logo next to the words STREET FIGHTER 4!"。Tired of walking? Is the game being unfair for not granting you a mount until level 30? Are you running out of quests with seventy percent of your experience bar to fill? Well, suck it up, because you are now in the age of suffering O_O.。Too much suffering for you? Each game really has their own torture method to make players strive harder in reaching the endgame content. It definitely works well with P2P games, especially if they have more than one expansion for your character to continue his or her progress. The good side of things is that there will always be challenges holding you back from achieving your rewards. Since the game is a Massively Multiplayer Online Game (focusing on Massively), these challenges encourage players to work together, thus creati band worthy of slaying the strong monsters that inhabit the place, so grind hard, get that mount, power up your character and GO FORTH you poor thing!。 。 。 。I AM NOW 10 LEVELS AWAY FROM BEING THE STRONGEST PLAYER IN THE GAME! I HAVE SLAIN 10 THOUSAND OF YOUR KIND DURING MY QUESTING DAYS!。Let's just say that it's the same as F2P (Free to play) and P2P (Pay to Play) service. F2P players enjoy the game but will never really win as much as those who actually pay for premium service. For those games that feature nothing but P2P subscriptions, it really is that big of a hassle to purchase expansions for your characters to move forward, let alone pick new characters that are cooler and stronger than what they have provided so far (Until they tweak them down after everyone buys the expansiLOL).。"YOUR DAYS ARE NUMBERED KOBOLD! I HAVE REACHED LEVEL 15!" "SEEM TO FORGET YOUNG ONE, WE ARE ARMORED KOBOLDS! LEVEL 16!"。 

If you must know, reaching the highest level in the game only takes you to where everyone is striving. No sir, you are not that strong yet, for as they say in WoW "Life starts at 80", which is true since reaching the highest level in the game only prepares you for the most extreme form of grinding. This is perhaps the hardest phase your character will have to go through, for the next steps you are about to take are a mixture of both numbers 1 and 3 (Grinding and lack of power). Actually, even though you've managed to reach the endgame content, you will also need to strengthen up your skills since nothing is worst than a player who doesn't know how to use his tools (no pun intended). Is there a way to ride a fast mount to progress ca things are getting slower by the minute.
