Silkroad Online 6 Years Later

By Remko Molenaar (Proxzor), OnRPG Journalist Silkroad Online is an MMORPG that puts the player deep into ancient Chinese, Islamic, and European civilizations. The Silk Road was a major cultural and economic trading artery between Europe and China that stretched through a dangerous path of northern Eurasia. This is a ripe setting for an MMO all about combat and adventure! The game has been out for almost 6 years now and I decided to check out what has been added since the game has been released. Silkroad Online has been updated a lot since 2005 and even released 4 expansions in the meanwhile. Everyone knows Silkroad Online had great success when it started back in the day. The game received great scores from multiple big sites and the beta was a big success. The first day when the game got into beta, the servers were overcrowded and most of the people trying to connect had no luck with getting in. In the first few days Joymax had to open extra servers that got full the minute they went online. After this successful launch Silkroad Online had a little trouble maintaining the servers so everyone could connect and enjoy the game they wanted. When trying to connect to a server you would always disconnect and your game client would automatically close. I still remember that horrible situation where it actually took an hour to log into the game. Well that problem is long gone and the servers still remain overpopulated. Joymax has added 45 servers since 2005 and all these servers are highly populated. While you are waiting to connect to the server via the automatic login system you can now safely minimize without worrying about client crashes. This I would say is by far the biggest advancement Joymax has made towards improving my enjoyment of the game.Silkroad Online is a free-to-play MMORPG that is set in the 7th century,福州担保公司, along the silk road between China and Europe. Back in 2005 you could only chose to play as a Chinese character, however with the Legend I update the European race and western world were added, making the world map twice as large! The other Legend expansions brought the level cap much higher which is currently level 110 where it was only 80 back in the old day. Also new areas got added where the players could level up and quest. There has been several updates concerning the PvP part of the game as well; in the Legend II expansion Joymax added a huge battleground and in the Legend V update people can visit the Job temple where hunters,福州贷款, traders and thieves can fight with each other. To understand this game you first need to understand the job system. In Silkroad Online it is possible to select a Job,福州担保公司, though only one is available per account so choose. There are currently two Jobs to choose from which are the following:The Hunter dedicates himself to protect caravan NPCs from the thieves who seek to disrupt their trading activities. It is the Hunter’s job to protect the trader and bring down the Thieves smuggling operations. The Thieves are marauders who prey upon the merchant caravans who travel on the Silk Road. They try to rob these Traders on their trip and are the enemies of the Hunters. The Thief strives to gain wealth and honor through smuggling.Apart from what Job you choose to play exists the typical MMO class system. Each of the races has its own advantages, disadvantages,福州担保, cities, weapons, armor and classes so choose carefully if you want to play a specific class. Classes each specialize in a different weapon that will dictate your fighting style. The Europeans have six classes to choose from which are the Warrior, Wizard, Warlock, Rogue, Bard and Cleric. The Chinese are masters of the mysterious energy of the martial force and are skillful with five different weapons: the sword, blade, spear, glaive and bow. They also use 4 types of Forces: Ice, Snow, Fire and Water. They can also practice Windwalk which makes them able to move faster.Silkroad Online also has a Crafting System. With the Crafting System you can directly create the items that you need. The crafting procedure is so easy; anyone can easily use the Crafting System. You can find recipes from monsters and some recipes are automatically obtained upon achieving the required level. Recipes can also be obtained from the General Store NPCs and the required items, according to the character’s level. Each recipe lists the material required for the crafting of the item. Once you have gathered all the necessary materials you can create the item through the ‘Craft Item’ menu. If you have enough materials you can craft multiple items at once to save time.To play this quality game you are required to have at least a processor with 800 MHz. Along with a 32 MB 3D graphics card and 512 MB Ram plugged into your motherboard. If you have no idea what kind of computer you are running but you have bought your computer around the year of 2005 I am sure you are able to run it just fine.Joymax has to be proud of their game; Silkroad Online is a wonderful game that had great success at launch and continued to expand on that success to create a really well defined game in 2011. They are also actively cracking down on botters that caused the community much grief over the years. Silkroad Online used to have a bad image concerning these ‘botters’ but have greatly reduced their numbers since 2008. Silkroad Online is a free-to-play game with a lot of fun gameplay elements to keep the player addicted and busy for quite a while. The game offers a lot of content for both PvP and PvE enthusiasts. I had a lot of fun playing this game back in the day, and I really enjoyed the game while testing it again. If you like a game with a lot of features and great support with updates and expansions from time to time I strongly advise you to try out Silkroad Online.

Diablo III Countdown Skillsets

,防近视眼笔

By Remko Molenaar (Proxzor), OnRPG Writer Recently the Diablo 3 Beta has gone live! Unfortunately Blizzard forgot to invite me but thankfully a lot of people,预防近视笔, including ColbyCheeze,防近视笔, are streaming the game and revealing a lot of content to get us even more hyped for the launch. Also the skills on the official Diablo 3 website got released and in this article I will be showing you a quick preview of a few spells that Diablo 3 currently revealed. I have already talked about the classes in the first article but now we have some specifics to describe exactly how these classes operate on the battlefield. Fan of Knives: Some of you might know the skill Fan of Knives in World of Warcraft. In Diablo 3 the skills has the same kind of effect; it is an area of effect spell in which you basically throw knives around you to hit the surrounding monsters. While the description is the same, the actual animation is far more beautiful in Diablo 3.Molten Arrow: This spell might be one of the most useful spells the Demon Hunter possesses; basically you shoot a piercing arrow in the current way that you are aiming. It hits targets for a percentage of your weapon damage and it leaves a trail of fire, dealing Fire damage per second to all enemies who stand in it. This spell will surely have some epic combinations with the rune system.Grenade: The Grenade spell lets you throw three grenades in the current direction you’re facing that explode and deal Fire damage to the surrounding monsters.Bola: With this spell you shoot out an explosive Bola that wraps itself around its target. After a few seconds the Bola will explode and deal extra damage to the target and an additional amount of damage to nearby targets.Entangling Shot: The Entangling Shot is the Demon Hunter’s stun skill. With this shot you shoot off an arrow which deals damage and entangles the monster for an x amount of seconds. Crippling Wave: The Monk uses large sweeping attacks that daze the target; on the first hit the target is dazed and on the second and third hit it refreshes the duration of the daze effect.Impenetrable Defense: The Monk creates a shield that protects him from any incoming damage. Enter monks as an off-tank class!Exploding Palm: With Exploding Palm the Monk does a series of lethal strikes to the targets nerve clusters, setting up a deadly chain reaction within the target. It also causes the target to bleed for an x amount of second. If the target dies while bleeding it explodes, which deals damage to surrounding enemies.Seven-Sided Strike: Unleashes a fury of attacks, striking multiple enemies nearby.Way of the Hundred Fists: The Monk fires a series of punching strikes to the targets in front of the Monk. Let’s hope this one stays true to the name ‘hundred.’ I have high hopes for some spectacular rune effects connecting to this skill. Projecting waves of lightning with each strike maybe?Disintegrate: Fires off a laser beam that will hit every target in its line of fire. It’s always important to have situational skill shots to keep things exciting for the wizard.Electrocute: Fires off an electric beam that hits multiple nearby targets dealing x amount of damage, as well as stunning and slowing the target. Electrocute can jump to 2 other targets dealing 30% less damage with each jump.Teleport: The standard go-to defensive skill for a mage. Just make sure you teleport out of the fray and not into it.Magic Missile: This skill lets you fire off a fast single magic missile at a target, dealing x amount of arcane damage.Slow Time: The Slow Time spell creates a purple bubble of protection around the Wizard. Basically what it does is create a forcefield around the wizard that not only slows the movement of enemies who enter it, but even slows projectile attacks launched from distant enemies.Cleave: This skill lets you swing your weapon in a wide arc to deal damage to nearby targets. It also does 60% of weapon damage to other nearby enemies that are caught in the extended swing.Ground Stomp: Ground Stomp makes you stomp the earth beneath you to stun and do 30% of damage to the surrounding targets. It’s an easy clean-up job from there.Leap: With Leap you will leap into the air dealing 40% of damage to all enemies within 8 yards of your destination. This skill might be the most fun opening skill to do because you surprise your targets when you leap forward. I expect this to be widely popular in PvP.Seismic Slam: This Slam might be the biggest Area of Effect spell that the Barbarian possesses; the barbarian slams the ground to cause a wave of destruction that deals 215 weapon damage and knockbacks targets in a 45yard arc around the epicenter.Whirlwind: Every Warcraft fan and Diablo fan is probably familiar with the Whirlwind. We saw the blade master in Warcraft 3 being specialized in this skill. Whirlwind lets the character rotate in circles to deliver multiple attacks to every target that is currently walking in its path.Firebomb: Firebomb is very similar to the Grenade skill that is used by the Demon Hunter. Instead of throwing grenades you throw one bomb at your enemy that will explode on impact and deal fire damage. As such timing is vital to landing this attack.Horrify: This powerful curse frightens the nearby enemies into running away for a few seconds. The radius emanates from the Witch Doctor, not from the spot targeted when cast, so it only works on enemies who are very nearby.Locust Swarm: Locust Swarm might be the most fun spell for the Witch Doctor to have. You send off a cloud of locusts that swarm over nearby enemies eating their flesh from their bones. The Locust Swarm will chain between nearby enemies which might set off a really fun situation where you can clear the room with only one simple spell. I’m curious how effective it is against living skeletons though.Mass Confusion: With Mass Confusion you will confuse your targets into turning against their allies temporarily. The duration is currently set at 8 seconds.Soul Harvest: With Soul Harvest you can feed on the life force of up to 5 nearby enemies within 15 yards. You will gain 126 attack for each affected enemy which will last for 30 seconds. After seeing all the skills of the current classes I am thinking about trying out a Demon Hunter at the release of Diablo 3. I have always liked the archer class above any other class in any MMORPG that I have played. It’s refreshing to finally see an archer breaking from the typical stereotype to encompass a bit more utility. The Wizard also looks rather interesting but I can’t help shake the feeling that it’s meant to play more of a supporting role in this game. Still, in the hands of an expert, wizards will be able to dish out immense aoe damage while remaining quite mobile. The current amount of damage an attack or spell deals can be changed considering Diablo 3 is still in early beta, but after seeing all the video’s on the Diablo 3 site you can get a really good view of what to expect of the currently announced classes.

US and Japanese PSone classics coming to

Sony has announced plans to start releasing US and Japanese PSone emulations in Europe via the PlayStation Store. While the firm hasn't confirmed any specific titles or release dates yet, Ross McGrath of the PlayStation Store team said a few are "already in process".Here's a handy guide explaining what it all means for you guys:Publishers who own the rights to release PSone titles that were previously only available in the US and/or Japan will now be able to apply to have them released on the SCEE PlayStation Stores (providing they are rated by the appropriate ratings boards for each territory). All titles will be published 'as is', with either English or Japanese language game content where available. All titles will run at 60 Hz and you will need a 60 Hz capable display to play them properly. This also means that if a PAL version of a title has been unable to pass QA in SCEE, but the NTSC version is already available on the PlayStation Store in SCEA or SCEJ, we can look at publishing that version instead. We cannot simply take the US version and publish it immediately, as it has to be reprocessed for SCEE, but at least we know the title should already be relatively bug-free.Sony added: "With this news in mind, we'd love to hear from you what titles you'd like to see available in Europe for the first time - make yourself heard in the comments and with the most requested titles we will speak to publishers on your behalf."

The Amazing Spider-Man Movie Getting A Ga

Activision and Beenox released Spider-Man: Edge of Time just 10 days ago. Meanwhile, we're just eight months away from the release of director Marc Webb's film reboot for Sony Pictures, The Amazing Spider-Man. Beenox, which also developed last year's Spidey game, Shattered Dimensions, is now busy working on a game based on the upcoming movie. The confirmation comes in the form of a poster at Activision's New York Comic Con booth, as spotted by IGN. The movie will be released on July 3, 2012 and it's reasonable to assume that the game might be coming at around the same time. NYCC has only just begun, and the poster's presence suggests that we'll be hearing more about it before the show ends on Sunday.Source: IGN

Picaroon - The Age of Online Empires

A self-proclaimed MMORTS, fans of the heralded Age of Empires series, turn-based juggernaut Civilization or the underappreciated Anno 1404 will all find something to like in Picaroon. You are given a small island to build, maintain and control with objectives to complete along the way. Coming off the back of the social video game boom brought on by Facebook, those who have fallen under its spell will find much familiarity in Picaroon.。

Questing rewards you with “specials” and other goodies. A dedicated questing panel lists available tasks and their requirements. The majority of them are basic (building a mill, attacking a pirate ship, etc.) and act as a helpful guide in growing your settlements whilst rewarding you with helpful items. The use of cards known as “specials” adds another strategic element. These one-shot deals can profoundly affect anything from construction times,福州贷款, to ship accuracy, to population growth.  Specials are awarded through questing and can also be bought in special packs from the in-game store.,福州担保

 。

Nevertheless, Picaroon succeeds in standing out amongst the pack. It may lack polish, but the fundamentals are there and its strong, addictive gameplay should evolve over time and keep those already playing interested. An enjoyable game in need of some slight refinement, Picaroon is a title that will appeal to both casual and non-casual real time strategy fans. Climb aboard.,福州担保公司

 ,福州担保公司

Picaroon isn’t your average strategy game. Half real time strategy, half MMO – it’s an online game that strives to be different in a space populated by cookie cutter titles. Mixing traditional base building and resource gathering with competitive multiplayer, quests and trade, Picaroon is a feature packed merger of all your favourite RTS mechanics.  Sounds great in premise, but is Picaroon a complete package of powerful playing styles or a convoluted concoction that should be avoided?。

A grid overlay displays your settlements and the location of your units. With a 40x40 grid to contend with, even a simple game of Picaroon is a vast one. Players are always on the lookout for new settlements to colonize, and they are usually more than willing to take yours if it is not defended. This is where Alliances come in. Players can form their own guilds and recruit other players in an attempt to garner a foothold on a certain area. Strength is certainly in numbers when it comes to conquering other player’s settlements and the inevitable task of defending your own.。

Once you’re happy with the progression of your settlement, it’s time to build defences and forge an army. Naval warfare is an extremely important part of Picaroon, and it’s wise to begin building ships and forming fleets as soon possible as new players are only protected from attacks for the first 72 hours. Discovering and colonizing new settlements is necessary for growth, and whilst you start off small it won’t be long until you have control over a number of islands. Having ample protection across the board isn’t easy so it’s wise to build the strongest defences on your most valuable islands. There are a good number of different ships available. Bombers, scouts, submarines – there’s a vessel for every occasion, each have their own advantages and disadvantages. Forming powerful and varied fleets to work in any given situation is a challenge.。

Developing your settlement is the first order of business. Constructing farms, mines and other buildings helps increase the number of resources available in your pool. Many are required to progress to the next level of the tiered construction tree, with the most advanced buildings at the top. These bring a whole host of new and powerful building options, unit types and game enhancements. A text-based tutorial guides you through the majority of Picaroon’s features, helping you get well acquainted with the game.。

A small cash shop is used to fund the game. Using a currency known as “Doubloons”, players can purchase the aforementioned premium Specials Packs. Packs range from fleet transportation speed buffs to stat increases to help protect your settlement if you are away for the weekend. It isn’t a necessity to indulge in such luxury but there is a clear advantage to those who do. Endgame is where the most action is. Those who have donated resources to the Home Nation across the course of a game are rewarded with the most hi-tech, advanced equipment and units available. Anything from advanced submarines to nuclear weapons, it’s worth gifting any remaining resources for the chance to wheel out the big guns in the final days of play, especially if you’re not interested in the Picaroon store.。

Picaroon’s small download makes me wonder why it wasn’t a browser-based game in the first place. Playing online games at work is all the rage these days, and the game’s management and base-building aspect would be well suited to the casual audience.  There are three different game types to choose from. The first is a classic setup with a fixed time limit and frantic end-game, the second is a quick skirmish that lasts just a few hours and the final mode offers an endless, persistent game for die hard strategists. Picaroon isn’t a casual affair though, there’s depth and strategy that will appeal to the most hardcore of players, but it’s welcoming to those who don’t have a lot of spare time to watch their empire rise.。

By Neil Kewn (Murxidon) – OnRPG Journalist。

Unfortunately not everything is as polished as the engine room of my Heavy Bombship. The user interface is poor. Cluttered, ugly menu screens and dreadful navigation mechanics take the shine off the game. Picaroon falls short in the graphics department too. Settlements consist of several huts and buildings, with little or no activity from the population you strive to appease. Textures are bland and of low quality, with water effects sadly lacking. Not such a surprise considering the small download, but the overall presentation of the game becomes an eyesore after a while.。

Star Wars The Old Republic Is Still Prob

Star Wars: The Old RepublicNews (112)Previews (33)ReviewVideos (158)Screenshots (177)Cheats and Walkthroughs BioWare wants to calm down fans who are fretting over comments made by Electronic Arts CFO Eric Brown during a recent investor call that suggested we won't be seeing the upcoming Star Wars: The Old Republic MMORPG until next year. The plan is still for a late 2011 release,福州贷款, studio community manager Stephen Reid wrote in a website update,福州担保公司, noting that the game is in "active and extensive testing."Reid allows for the possibility that a delay could occur,福州担保公司, which he says is the reason Brown offered a different outlook, but he encourages fans to remain optimistic. "A possibility doesn't mean a certainty,福州担保," he wrote."Despite what doom-sayers may try and tell you, we are still very much aiming to ship in the holiday 2011 window (AKA, before the end of the year)," he continued. "We're pushing out a major new build, we're getting in our external testers to look at it soon, and then we'll re-start our Game Testing Weekends."So don't go crazy and embrace the Dark Side just yet. After all, we're talking about the developer of Knights of the Old Republic here. The Force is strong with this one.Source: BioWare

Forza 4 Latest trailer presents Infineon

The latest Forza 4 trailer is typically gorgeous and gives us an in-game look at Infineon Raceway. The track is located at Sears Point in the southern Sonoma Mountains near Sonoma, California, USA and stretches 2.52 miles. The trailer shows the tarmac being torn-up by clutch of conventional race cars - no Warthog to be found, we're afraid. The Halo 4 vehicle is available only in the Kinect-friendly Autovista Mode. Have a look at that after you've watched the Infineon Raceway trailer below. Tom Pakinkis

Sledgehammer's 3rd person CoD game 'was c

Sledgehammer Games, the Activision studio formed to take the Call of Duty series in a new direction, has spoken about its initial work on a third person action adventure game in the series and its subsequent switch to co-developing Modern Warfare 3 with Infinity Ward. "We came on board to make a third person action adventure game in the Call of Duty franchise and we were working on it for about six months," Sledgehammer CEO Glen Schofield told GameSpot.Head of studio development Michael Condrey added: "We had about six to eight months on that and put a prototype together that was pretty compelling and it looked really good."[Then] we had the opportunity to work on the biggest thing in the industry with a developer in Infinity Ward that has demonstrated that they know how to do exceptional software. It was an opportunity we couldn't miss."There are a lot of people on the team who have worked on Call of Duty before, on first-person shooters before, so there's a lot of built-in knowledge about the first-person shooter genre and a lot of passionate gamers," Condrey said. "There are guys on the floor who are on their tenth prestige in Black Ops. So it was a nice marriage of experience in the genre and sort of fan desire to work on this franchise."Modern Warfare 3 is out on November 8. Earlier today, Activision launched the debut multiplayer trailer for the game. Tom Ivan

The War Of The Worlds XBLA Side-Scroller

Other Ocean Interactive has done some beautiful work on the upcoming digital download release, an adaptation of the classic H.G. Wells alien invasion sci-fi novel, The War of the Worlds. Looking at it, it's easy to think back to another downloadable feast of eye candy from last summer, Playdead's Limbo.Fortunately, it looks like we won't be waiting much longer for Other Ocean to drop the side-scrolling platformer, provided you're an Xbox 360 owner. The game comes to XBLA on October 26, the developer confirms on its Facebook page. PlayStation 3 and PC releases will follow "soon."Source: Facebook

Mirror's Edge 2 uses Battlefield 3 engine

Although EA has said a couple of times that the Mirror's Edge franchise will return one day, things look to becoming ever more solid as Official PlayStation Magazine tips the sequel to return on Frostbite 2 with reassuring certainty. Back in June EA Games boss Frank Gibeau felt comfortable enough to avoid dismissing the notion of Mirror's Edge 2 on DICE's Frostbite 2 engine saying, "You'll see that combination I'm sure."OPM is now reporting on insider whispers which add more credence to the idea of Faith hop, skip and jumping onto Battlefield 3's stunning engine."The Frostbite 2 engine will pave the way for Mirror's Edge to make a free-running return," says the mag, much to our delight. What exactly that will look like is still uncertain (Faith may not even feature). EA itself has admitted that it needed time to work out the best way to approach a Mirror's Edge sequel, although it sounds as though that work is already under-way.Order OPM here and have it delivered straight to your door

The Xbox Deal of the Week this week is a bit of identity-shifting on the cheap: For the next seven days, you can change your Xbox gamertag for 560 Microsoft Points, that's 30 percent less than the usual cost of a gamertag change, so this is the perfect chance to go deep undercover... although, sadly, your friends will instantly see your new handle, and, by extension, know that you felt the need to change your identity. Here's a step-by-step guide: On your console, sign in using the Xbox LIVE gamertag that you want to change. Go to My Xbox, and select your gamertag. Select Change Gamertag. Note the Price of the change, and then select Enter New Gamertag or Get Suggestions to view possible gamertags. Once you enter or select a new gamertag, select Yes, use this gamertag.I'd like to make a suggestion, Xbox Live community: If your gamertag contains any reference to 420, change it. It makes you look like a tool. Also: Racist Gamertag Guy: Stop advertising your ignorance! Also: If your tag says "leet" or any variation thereof, get rid of it. Also: Mixtures of upper and lowercase with Xxx at the beginning or end are OUT. In fact, just use your full, legal name, like Ido.Yes, my parents named me XXxx SniperEliteForce XXxx Johnson.

An explosion in the house sends your uncle insane and your mission is to locate him and figure out what's going on.But getting through his intricate house is a huge puzzle, for which you'll need the IDS device - Inter-dimensional Shift device - on your arm. This lets you switch between dimensions with different physical properties. For example, you can switch to the 'Fluffy Dimension' in which everything turns plush, so heavy things are light which allows you to move objects that are otherwise too heavy. There's also a slow-mo dimension in which moving objects (except you) move 20 times slower. As you progress from one puzzle room to another you'll be able to switch between different dimensions to solve the puzzles, and sometimes combine different dimensions with truly clever results to reach the exit. Swift explains it all in the video below:So you use an arm-attached device to defy physics and reach the exit of a series of puzzle-filled laboratory rooms. Sound familiar? Regardless of its Portal similarities, Quantum Conundrum looks and sounds amazing and we can't wait to see more of it. Luckily there's not long to wait - it's out in 'early 2012' on Steam, Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network for PS3. Mike Jackson

Codemasters boss doubts 'premium Wii U pr

Codemasters boss Rod Cousens has expressed doubts that Nintendo will launch Wii U at "a premium price point". "I anticipate further price cuts on existing consoles prior to Christmas this year, and there's room for further price cuts next year. So Wii U needs to be very keenly priced," the exec told MCV."Pricing is critical in a very fragmented hardware space," he added. "So I am not sure they are going to be able to come out and hit a premium price point from the outset. But Nintendo is smart. It is always innovative. It has demonstrated its breakthrough ability in the past, so let's see if it can do it again. And the industry should cheer it on."Nintendo said earlier this week that it doesn't plan to announce the Wii U price or release date until next year.Following the console's announcement in June though, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata didn't beat around the bush when he said: "This is not going to be cheap."Around the same time, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said the console will offer consumers "fantastic value" for money and be "competitively" priced with PS3 and Xbox 360. Halo Anniversary pre-order goodies detai

Microsoft's unveiled its pre-order incentive for Halo Combat Evolved: Anniversary: an official art booklet. At least it's better than a "premium map" (and a kick in the arse), eh? Customers who pre-order their copy with GAME and Gamestation will receive the special edition collector's booklet, which is based on the art book "Halo: The Art of Building Worlds" from Titan Publishing. Microsoft explains: "This 24 page, 170 x 135mm booklet contains a collection of ground-breaking art from the history of the Halo games including concept art, sweeping landscapes from the Halo universe, and of course the evolution of the Master Chief."Combat Evolved: Anniversary is out on November 15. Microsoft confirmed 3D support for the HD update last week. Andy Robinson

Resistance 3 public beta Dates and detai

Insomniac Games has detailed its plans for the Resistance 3 multiplayer public beta, set to kick off next month. For UK and Euro regions, PlayStation Plus subscribers will, as ever, get the VIP treatment with VIP access to the beta from August 10. Subscribers will be able to download the client from the PS Store's PS Plus section from that date. Non subscribers will have to wait for "further opportunities to get into the Beta after this date", although no further details were specified. In the US, however, those of you who have received Early Access to the Public Beta via specially marked packages of SOCOM 4 will be allowed into the beta "at some point on Thursday, August 4", by using the redeem code you have for the PS Store. US PS Plus subs will have to wait until August 23 to get their R3 fix, while non-subscribers are again left in the dark with only the promise of further details at a later date. Feel neglected much?Insomniac has also detailed what you'll get in the beta. "The Resistance 3 Beta includes two of our major maps in the game, the Seaside of Glamorgan, Wales, as well as a Trainyard in Bogota, Colombia," it explains. "The Public Beta includes two of our five multiplayer modes, Team Deathmatch and Chain Reaction (the other three are Deathmatch, Breach, and Capture the Flag). You can level your character up, buy and upgrade weapons and abilities, customize your loadouts and unlock new character skins. We have capped the level in the beta at 20, so you won't be able to get the full range of abilities, modes, maps, and weapons until the game launches in September."Those of you who don't get into the beta will be pleased to know that both Uncharted 3 and Resistance 3 will be playable at massive consumer show GAMEfest in Birmingham (UK) this September.

Buy Deus Ex Human Revolution for

Tesco is offering the cheapest Deus Ex: Human Revolution price among the supermarkets so far, selling the title for £30. The catch is that the offer is only available to those who pre-order Battlefield 3, Gears of War 3 or Batman: Arkham City. That's no big hardship for most of you, we're sure but, if you do want more options, rival retailers are offering the game straight up with a price tag that isn't too much bigger.Sainsbury's is selling the game for £33.99, for example and Morrisons is charging £34.99.In the online market, ShopTo's lowest Deus Ex: Human Revolution price is £36.85 while the cheapest console price on Play.com is £38.89.Amazon beats them all, however, undercutting with £34.99. id has 'definitely struggled' with consol

id has told CVG that it has "struggled" with input latency on console during the development of Rage - but that the game is now running "really fast" on all systems. The studio's multi-format breakneck FPS, due for release in October, has been build using its pride and joy, id Tech 5.And according to id's creative director Tim Willits, the engine has helped iron out issues with trying to get the game up to speed on Xbox 360 and PS3."Even developing Rage, we've worked on consoles and there's actually lots of latency in the controllers you don't have on the keyboard and mouse, he said. "We've definitely struggled with that, but we've made it as fast as we can make it." Willits believes that Rage has been made in the "id spirit" that spawned classics like Quake and Doom, but that id Tech 5 has added special twists. He explained that the engine allows id to paint each object in the world separately - leading to diverse environments."It's true multi-platform technology," he added. "Historically we made a great PC game and we had to cut it all up on console. That isn't the case with id Tech 5. It runs really fast, 60hz on all the systems. It's fluid, responsive - and it looks beautiful." Tim Ingham

Star Wars TOR, Should I be Excited

The job classes on the other hand are satisfactory for me since most of them are the classes that I expected in a Star Wars game. What I really want to see is how they fare in actual combat since BioWare is boasting that they are trying to make your character look and feel as an action star from a Star Wars movie would. Would my Jedi knight fight with the acrobatic dexterity that has often left my mouth agape whenever I watch Jedi battles? Would I be able to see the smuggler in all his/her gun slinging glory?。

 。

 。

 。

We then have BioWare making the newest Star Wars MMO. Should we then be excited? Hell yeah we should.。

 。

Aside from wanting to see how BioWare would pull this off, I actually love some of the features that BioWare has included in TOR. The most noteworthy for me is the space combat. I actually liked the route BioWare went with on this one. As a big Rogue Squadron fan, I really expected space combat in TOR to have the same intensity as I experienced in that old PC game. With the video I saw during E3 I felt that rush and I love the sheer beauty the space combat has. I also liked how BioWare expected that space combat could be tedious and that not all players would love to keep on shooting down ships so they made space combat as an optional “mini-game” for players.。

One of main reasons why my excitement is greater for TOR is that BioWare is the one developing the game. Who would be better suited to create a new Star Wars game than the company who brought us one of the most memorable Star Wars game in history? Of course a lot of people who have been paying attention to BioWare would know that the company is treading on unknown territory because this will be their first actual attempt in the MMO genre. I myself have that nagging apprehension ever since I heard they’d be handling the reins on this one.。

And now we have another Star Wars game coming out, and this time it’s another MMORPG. Now the question is, should we be really excited for this? Would it mean that we have to suffer through another Star Wars MMO?。

 。

By: Vincent Haoson, OnRPG Journalist。

 。

 。

 。

BioWare is known to create tons of great story-driven games. And seeing that the genre they’re going into rarely cares for storyline- we are left to wonder what would BioWare do with SWTOR? In fact, we’re left to wonder how they will incorporate storytelling into a genre that throws away stories because it’s too darn hard to maintain a flowing storyline. We then hear BioWare promising that every player would get their own story in TOR! No company would even dare to deliver that, including Blizzard, since most of the MMOs that have a player story comes from RP-ing or players who have the gift of wordsmithing.。

 。

 。

It goes without saying that the Star Wars franchise is the most overused name in the video game industry. Time and time again we’ve been given Star Wars games (and spinoffs) that have been bearable to downright bad. Of course there have been different attempts to incorporate the Star Wars universe into something that’s playable, since the universe itself is well suited to be made into a very immersive game- it’s just that there are only a few Star Wars titles that were any good.。

 。

 。

As a person who is looking for the next MMO to spend both my money and time on, I’m pretty psyched for TOR. I trust BioWare enough to be able to deliver a lot of their promises. With my experience in their games such as KotoR, Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2 and Dragon Age Origins I think that my trust is well founded that they would make TOR into a great Star Wars game. Though of course I still have my doubts and concerns but I’m giving Bioware the benefit of the doubt after they proved time and。

 。

 。

I personally want to see how BioWare will try and deliver their promise. The company has proven time and time again that they can really spin a good tale, and I want to see them try and apply their magic into the MMO scene. If they are able to do this perfectly, I’m seeing that this is the biggest push the MMO industry, which has been stagnating lately, needs.。

I always believed that a game company that knows how to take care of its community knows what it is doing, and BioWare has been known to foster a great community even before the TOR project.。

 。

 。

 。

But rest assured if I’m disappointed in this game, my review will be far more spiteful than a death by Force choking!。

 。

In fairness to Star Wars Galaxies (the first Star Wars MMO), the game had a lot of potential. The game gave us the options and choices we don’t normally have in any Star Wars game. However, as the game progressed, certain decisions by the company that handled the game (I won’t be dropping the name of that company because it’s pretty obvious who it is) ruined it for the players. Of course I still acknowledge the dedication the game’s remaining player base has, but even Lucas had to pull the plug of SWG for TOR.。

 。

 。

 。

Now, I’m not much of a hardcore Star Wars fan. I loved episodes 4-6 while taking episodes 1-3 with a grain of salt. I’ve never immersed myself in the novels but I have had the experience of playing through a lot of the Star Wars games and even researched some notable characters in the Star Wars universe (Mace Windu fan right here). If you mention any game related to Star Wars figurative ears would perk up in excitement. I am glad that my enthusiasm for Star Wars games has not dissipated through the years- but with TOR, I’m more excited than usual.。

The other thing that made me excited for TOR is the dedication of the people backing the game. The TOR community is huge even if the game is still under development. As a person who has had experience both as a player and as someone behind the operations of an MMO, the lifeblood of any online game is its community, and TOR indeed has that, in spades.  Speaking of the community, BioWare even has a special pre-launch guild program to bolster TOR’s guilds.。

Amazon Announces Kindle Fire, A Color Tab

Amazon just announced the Kindle Fire, which lets you do a whole lot more than read books. The company released a total of four new Kindle devices, that range in price from the cheap-as-dirt $79 Kindle to the would-be iPad killer the Fire. The Android-powered Fire is full color and only costs $199. It's a color tablet featuring book-reading, video playing, web-browsing, cloud-storage, a touch-screen, and because nothing can be announced without them, games. Examples given include Plants Vs. Zombies, Fruit Ninja, and, of course, Angry Birds. But there will be thousands of apps and games available, as any Android app will run on the thing. The Fire is designed to be smaller than an iPad with a 7-inch screen, and it also supports Flash, unlike the iPad. It has 8GB internal storage, but the bulk of your Fire storage will be cloud-based.That's the positive side. The negative side: The launch version of The Fire is Wi-Fi only, so no 3G for you early adopters. It doesn't have a camera, either, but I think Icould live without either of those features in exchange for that outrageously cheap price.Part of Amazon's strategy obviously revolves around the services the retailer offers as well. “This is an end-to-end service,” Amazon's Jeff Bezos said in his announcement presentation in New York City, touting not only the book store but the Amazon Prime video streaming service with an annual $79 subscription. So now that you know a bit about The Fire, what do you think? Would you buy this or an iPad?

Square Enix has reported a disappointing set of financial results for the three-month period ended June 30, 2011 Profits shrunk 62 percent year-over-year to just 690 million yen (£5.4 million), while sales were down 25 percent to 24.5 billion yen (£191.3 million).Square president Yoichi Wada said in a statement: "In a quarter without major title releases, profit and sales were lower compared to the previous year."We are focusing all our efforts on rebuilding the group businesses during the current fiscal year toward generating a substantial earnings recovery from the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013 and beyond."Square published an updated product release schedule as part of its financial results, which said Final Fantasy XIII-2 will launch in Europe in "early 2012". Battlefield 3 Xbox 360 to come on 2 discs

The Xbox 360 version of Battlefield 3 will arrive on two discs when the game releases this October. That's according to an image of a promotional poster being carried by Japanese blog Esutero (via PlayStation Lifestyle), which also says the PS3 edition will ship on one Blu-ray disc. We've contacted EA for comment.Last year, Lost Planet 2 producer Jun Takeuchi said that Capcom had to cut a significant amount of content from the Xbox 360 version of the game due to size issues with its DVD format.Microsoft has seemingly acknowledged what developers such as Castlevania: Lords of Shadow creator Mercury Steam have labelled an Xbox 360 "storage problem". In March, the platform holder reportedly began trialling a new disc format that will add an extra 1GB of storage to Xbox 360's ageing 7.95GB DVD format.Back in May, LA Noire shipped on three discs for Xbox 360. Early Access Realm of the Titans Hero Pre

 。

Ultimate- Balancing Spear: Ritter throws a spear. On impact it takes an average of the enemy’s hp and mp and knocks both bars to this average. This is a very devastating ranged move to punish opponents that are out of mana but still high in hp.。

 。

 。

 。

Misrefel represents one of the most feared of the offensive heroes. Her ability to deal damage at range and up close makes her a threat from any positioning. Only oppose her if you have a very good back up plan or you will find yourself another victim in her long killing streaks.。

 。

 。

 。

By Darren Henderson (DizzyPW), OnRPG Editor-in-Chief。

Ultimate- Blade of Vengeance: Misrefel launches her twin blades which track a target dealing considerable damage and slowing on impact.。

 。

 。

Ultimate- Siege Mode: Siege Mode grants ranged attacks with 100% splash damage for a duration of 40 seconds. The area of the splash damage is a sizable 300 units.。

The Offensive heroes are true to their name. They get up in your face, or blow you away with ranged physical damage like no one else can. If left unchecked, they will build into nightmarish foes that nothing will stand against come end game.。

 。

Some OnRPG viewers may already be aware of Haz’zard from the hero showcase we did on him recently. I thought he seemed quite horrifying in the hero showcase, and he met all expectations when facing him ingame. Haz’zard’s ability to cause wide spread damage to an area is borderline absurd. In any team battle you have to take Haz’zard out asap or your entire team will be stunned and burnt to a crisp.。

 。

Ultimate- Spirit Link: Charm a neutral creep that inherits Deccat’s base defense and magic resist. Charmed creep also inherits damage, attack speed, and health!。

 。

Ultimate- Thunder Clap: Nevetira’s ultimate is one of the most spectacular and dreadful to watch in the game. She fires a volley of her thunder balls in a fan shape, slowing spreading out from their initial location. When you hit the spell button again the balls freeze in place for a quick moment. They will sparkle with energy and then target the nearest enemy and fly at them, doing 120 damage, 80 AoE damage, and causing a 0.1 second stun for each ball that hits a target. Ouch!。

 。

 。

Now to get back on topic! It’s the best and worst time in a game development cycle for Aeria Games this week. Their prized game, Realm of the Titans, which they have spent countless after hours testing and honing over the past year is finally amping up for closed beta access this Wednesday! Beta keys and press releases are being sent out, and there’s no turning back now!。

 。

 。

Ultimate- Time Bomb: A time bomb is attached to an enemy unit. After a considerable wait, the bomb explodes, dealing massive AoE damage. However if the hero dies prematurely, the bomb goes off immediately, making this ultimate a powerful surprise to throw on a nearly dead hero in the middle of the confusion of a team battle.。

 。

 。

 。

 。

 。

Ultimate- Thousand Flames: Haz’zard releases multiple rings of fire that spread outward almost endlessly, at a speed of 300 units per second. If you’re stuck inside this range for the full duration, your chance of survival is extremely low.。

Silvar, aka the Houdini of the Woods, can initiate team fights and flee with hardly a scratch on him. This living treant might not be able to withstand the damage of some defensive heroes, but you’ll never catch him to finish him off!。

I think the Curse representative summed Samurai Spirit up best at our private press preview. “His ultimate can’t be targeted, runs faster than me, and deals massive damage. How is this balanced?” Samurai Spirit is a relentless pursuer that would sooner die than let his target escape him. If played right, all team fights should give your team a 1 member advantage.。

Abraxas is an interesting hero because he looks far too bad ass to be labeled as a support hero. He functions similar to the Demon Judge but with a few tricks that can save allies who get stuck in a tight spot.。

 。

Now you have a strong knowledge of both the titan skills and heroes available to you in Realm of the Titans. With just days away until closed beta, it’s time to get together with your team and start theory crafting on what team builds you will use to dominate the Realm. Even now I feel a bit fidgety wishing I was at home playing ROTT instead of at work writing about it.。

 。

Ultimate- Liaison to Hell: Dead Rider links enemy souls together. The enemy with the lowest hp takes extra damage based on the damage inflicted on his nearby teammates. This ultimate is nasty if you do not realize it is in effect because even if you hide on the back line, the damage inflicted on your tanks will still reach you.。

 。

 。

Spell casters play the role of controller in Realm of the Titans. Although they don’t dish out quite as much consistent DPS as the offensive heroes, their spells usually come with crippling side effects, aoe damage, and are incredibly powerful for ganking heroes in the early games when magic resistance is low and base damage is high. A properly played spell caster can set the pace of a match in the early game to help support offensive heroes build into unopposed end game monsters.。

Ultimate- Shaman King’s Curse: Pua-Pua is afflicted by the King’s Curse. This transforms him into a powerful buff action hero for a 25 second duration.。

Ultimate- Sword Storm: Concentrate Energy for 3 seconds or discharge on command. The longer you channel, the more damaging the swords are. Swords spread out in a line, shoot forward and converge on a target, and then break apart in a fan shape dealing more damage to foes caught behind the target.。

 。

 。

I myself have been having a blast seeing the various heroes in action while playing with my new friends at MOBAcast. We had a fun 3v3 scrimmage against them last weekend and Colby made a video of the epicness so check it out HERE. After less than a week of hands on time, things are starting to feel familiar and intuitive. Denying, last hitting, and harassing all form together into an intricate dance akin to a life and death piano tune (Ok I might have spent a bit too much time on Yue).。

 。

 。

Flame Wing is best described as the Ashe of Realm of the Titans. Through constant harass, he will whittle you down and then burst into action to steal a long range kill. Beware letting this hero free farm gold at all costs!。

 。

 。

 。

Deccat is quite a tricky offensive hero. He’s hard to characterize but deadly if played in the right hands. Using traps and CC, he will leave you at the mercy of his ultimate.。

Casteele is tough to peg in one archetype of hero. However, due to his turret system that works similarly to heimerdinger, I classified him as a defensive hero for his intense ability to lock a lane down and punish anyone who overextends on the enemy team gunning for a kill. Casteele makes for quite the distraction himself to pull fire off hurting allies.。

Ultimate- Piercing Barrage: Flame Wing Fires a barrage of arrows that penetrate through targets and continue forward. He is immobilized while in this state but can still aim in various directions.。

 。

Be sure to check out more works by Ajka at http://tirramisu.deviantart.com/.。

 。

This nasty tiger-like.. . creature might be just a cute little kitty by himself. But in a team battle he is MVP. His ability to unleash the best in all of his teammates makes him truly shine as both a defensive and supportive hero.。

Ultimate- Order of Execution: Demon Judge places a death warrant on an enemy, causing damage over time to the marked foe. If a set amount of damage is inflicted to the target during the duration of the Order, a large additional amount of damage will be incurred at the conclusion of the hex.。

 。

It’s likely because I’m a major Sona fan, but Yue fits so well into my usual playstyle that I ended up turning her into a carry hero against Realm of the Titan’s own GM team in our preview event. She is a jack of all trades support hero, featuring a heal, a slow, a shield, and a silence. This unpredictable ghostly musician is a game changer in the right hands.。

 。

 。

Ultimate- Majesty: Majesty is a two sided ultimate that can be used on allies or enemies. When used on enemies, you can visibility of the enemy while simultaneously doing damage over time and lowering all of their resistances. This is invaluable against heroes utilizing stealth or very mobile heroes that attempt to juke your team by running through the jungle. When Majesty is used on allies, it buffs all of their defenses and recovers a portion of their hp.。

Marroc is a hybrid hero that deals much more damage than the average support hero. His twin blades pack a punch and his ultimate can turn any team fight into a one sided massacre.。

 。

As a support in Realm of the Titans, you carry the responsibility of three major roles. Deny, map awareness, and CC. Since supports aren’t as reliant as other heroes on farming gold, they are much more capable of focusing on your own minions and using the deny mechanic to last hit minions before enemies do, denying your opponents of valuable gold and experience. Since wards (items that grant vision in a set area of the map) are so cheap, it’s also best if supports keep wards up in all the major chokepoints of the map to give allies early warning of incoming ganks. Supports also excel at crowd control abilities, whether it be delayed damage (aka psychological damage), heals, or silencing spells.。

 。

 。

 。

If you are playing one of these monsters, it’s your job to tell your team what’s up and ensure their strategy is based around getting you maxed out on all your stats as soon as possible. If you are against them, it’s time to deny minions, tower hug, and do whatever you can to shut them down while they are still vulnerable in the early game.。

 。

Ultimate- : God Destroyer: Soul Taker vaults through the air to a target location, causing massive AoE damage on impact.。

 。

 。

Nevetira is a spicy little vixen that looks and feels like an unholy love child between LoL’s Janna and Ryze. With bursts of lightning, speed boosting powers, and a ranged tornado at her disposal, she will leave you harassed and confused.。

 。

You may recognize him from OnRPG’s noob stomper image I posted earlier in the month. Aether is a glass cannon with far too many skill shots to count. But if played properly, he can be considered the most dangerous hero on the map, causing massive constant damage at melee and ranged distances.。

My award for most entertaining hero in Realm of the Titans goes to this weird little man. Though he can be played more as a spell caster than a support, I more preferred focusing on the support side of his build. He carries a large box on his back full of more tricks than Fiddle could hold a candle to. One of his most signature abilities is to create a clone of an enemy hero. The clone saps the power from the original Hero, channeling it as its own. And if Gadgetmeister attacks the clone, real damage is done to the original hero. And this isn’t even his ultimate!。

Soul Taker is quite a conundrum. Though not fast moving, he brings immense damage to targets he can slice his blades through. Most make the mistake of going toe to toe with him and then kiting thinking that the advantage is theirs due to Soul Taker’s inability to keep up with them. That’s usually their final mistake..。

 。

Anyhow I felt it would be best to give a brief description of the heroes available at launch and what makes them each so special. This way OnRPG viewers will be in the know and get who they want on day 1 instead of fumbling through dozens of champions that don’t fit their play style and end up spending closed beta in the proverbial ELO Hell.。

Welcome back to episode 3 of OnRPG’s Early Access: Realm of the Titans series, focusing on the Heroes themselves! Before we get started I wanted to give a shout out to a fantastic artist named Ajka (Alicja Chrena) I met at Anime Expo who helped me bring to life the image of what Dizzy from Guilty Gear would look like inside the world of League of Legends.。

 。

Ritter is the poster child for a Knight in Shining Armor. Acting as half tank and half support, he rides the front lines disrupting enemy heroes left and right while soaking up damage and protecting his more vulnerable teammates. He is definitely a high skill cap champion though so expect a few beat downs before you get the hang of him.。

 。

 。

As thanks for everyone who has followed this Early Access series, we will be providing keys granting guaranteed access to Realm of the Titans as well as a starter pack of goodies courtesy of Aeria Games. Stay tuned as the keys will become available later this week!。

Ultimate- Binding Chains: Within a range of 1500 units, Sealed Beast boosts all allies’ speed to equal the fastest ally. All enemies caught in the range will move as slow as their currently slowest moving teammate.。

 。

 。

 。

 。

Ultimate- Dragon Evil Release: Marroc releases the spirit of a fiery dragon from his blades, targeting and chasing a selected enemy hero for a period of time. This dragon will also damage any enemies it encounters while chasing the enemy hero. In a worst case scenario this skill will send a skilled enemy hero running for their life to protect their teammates. In the best case scenario, the enemy will be clueless who the dragon is chasing and result in a breakdown of enemy formations and an ensuing ace.。

 。

Oh Pua.. how I despise you! You’re the Teemo of the ROTT world.. except Pua-Pua goes where he pleases! His Mid-Range tribal dart gun can cut down a wary enemy before they recognize its happening.。

 。

Ultimate- Overgrowth: Silvar weaves roots through the ground, snaring nearby enemies and doing 80 damage per second.。

 。

Don’t let the name fool you. Defensive heroes can still pack a punch in many cases. However these tanks can survive through virtually anything if built for it and still come out on top. Masters of split pushing and overextension, no one can scout or disrupt the enemy team quite like this set of heroes.。

 。

 。

Ultimate- Melody of Sorrow: Yue channels a tune that spreads similar to Haz’zard’s Thousand Flames ultimate. After a short period of time it takes effect, silencing and damaging enemies for every second they remain within her 1200 unit range. If uninterrupted, she seems to be able to channel this spell for 20 seconds straight if mana permits.。

Although I was unable to see much of the Demon Judge in play, his ability to support an offensive carry is uncanny and dangerous. The Demon Judge acts as the ultimate target caller in team battles, amplifying the power of his teammates so long as they follow his orders. Speaking of orders, opponents will have to be quick on their feet to get out of his ultimate alive.。

Ultimate- Tidal Wave: Summons a tidal wave that crashes forward, pushing enemies and minions 3,000 units back from the origin of the wave. This is amazing for buying your team time after losing a team battle.。

 。

Tide Walker is a goofy little critter. He takes on the form of something between a sea monkey and a bull frog. His mastery over water spells and disruption is no joke though. He also has one of the greatest utility ultimates in the current game.。

This nasty little goblin-like creature and his trusted mount spread discord and chaos quickly and efficiently all over the map. Due to insane mobility, Dead Rider is a top tier roamer who will leave opponents in fear of overextending away from their towers’ protection. However not even this can save a team from Dead Rider’s team fight killing ultimate.。

 。

 。

Ultimate- Crimson Fury: Summons a giant samurai warrior who relentlessly pursues an enemy hero. Samurai Spirit can teleport to his summon at any time during its short duration.

Wii U can do anything PS3 and 360 can - E

Wii U is likely to be capable of doing anything PS3 or Xbox 360 can, according to EA, which recently received new development kits for Nintendo's console. Vice president Andrew Wilson told Eurogamer the publisher now has a slightly better idea of Wii U's power and it hopes it's even more capable than Microsoft's and Sony's systems."I think that's our hope, but again we're still in the early stages," he said. "As every new piece of hardware and every new development library comes through we get a greater understanding of the power. With our early research we had been very happy with the output of the box and we expect that that will only go up moving forward."It's still moving," Wilson added, "but I think we'll be able to do anything that we can do on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on the Wii U."Asked about the Wii U's online capabilities, Wilson said he couldn't disclose much because EA's NDAd up to the eyeballs."[Online is] something that we're working very closely with Nintendo on. We are highlighting to them what we believe are the most important elements to that infrastructure to deliver a connected experience that we think is the future of gaming. "We're working through the development with them now," he added. "We have a series of people who are under very strict NDAs as you can imagine, operating with them, building that system out." He also said FIFA 13 may be a Wii U launch title, but ultimately that decision will rest with Nintendo. While publishers and developers are still attempting to work out the technical capabilities of Wii U, Aliens: Colonial Marines and Duke Nukem Forever developer Gearbox has described the platform as a "stop-gap" between this generation of consoles and the next.

Square responds to Deus Ex 'racist' contr

Square Enix has responded today to reported racial controversy surrounding a character in its latest sci-fi stunner, Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Despite gaining widespread praise for its excellence, the game has apparently come under the spotlight today for allegations of inappropriate racial stereotyping in regards to an African-American character in the game - an NPC known as Letitia the Trash Lady. Lead character Adam Jenson encounters the woman digging through bins in the street before she asks him for money in what's being referred to as 'slave-era dialect' (video below). Square has issued an official response to GamesRadar in response to questioning over the matter: "Deus Ex: Human Revolution is a fictional story which reflects the diversity of the world's future population by featuring characters of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds," said Square. "While these characters are meant to portray people living in the year 2027, it has never been our intention to represent any particular ethnic group in a negative light."Read this praising Deus Ex: Human Revolution review to find out what really matters - why you need to buy it right now. Early Access Dream Drops

By Darren Henderson (DizzyPW), OnRPG Editor-In-ChiefYesterday marked the first day of Gamania's Taiwan Game Show and the beginning of their spectacular line up was Dream Drops. For those familiar with Lucent Heart, you will find yourself right at home as Dream Drops is developed by the same team and takes Gamania's usual style and pushes it to the next generation. In Dream Drops you take on the role of a 'sleepwalker' aka a human who is temporarily transported into the world of dreams to help bring some clarity to the chaos befalling the world of After Dream. Apparently Time Thieves have stolen the Time from children's classic fairy tales, resulting in bizarre alterations to Fairy Tales. Most notably, the Queen of Hearts has gone from savage and maniacal to focused and goal driven, leading the Elder Board in a hunt to catch the Time Thieves. Meanwhile Snow White has gone Barbie and is attempting to seize control of all of After Dream the only way a Barbie Girl knows how, creating a seductive clothing line called Silver Waltz!Although the Queen of Hearts has summoned you to the world of After Dreams, don't let your guard down. She is still vicious and ready to turn on you as soon as you no longer serve her purposes. The story line and cast of characters in Dream Drops is twisted, full of appearances like Hook, betrayal, and mystery. In terms of gameplay, Dream Drops takes the classic 4 class model and reimagines it with the tank becoming a Nutcracker, the mage becoming a Dream Painter, the cleric becoming a Pasty Chef, and the summoner as an Indian Warrior. While they serve these rolls in a familiar way, their skills are nothing but imaginative. For instance the Pasty Chef (pictured below as Pedo Bear) attacks enemies with giant ice cream cones, heals allies with candy, and spills milk on people for the pure joy of being Pedo Bear. As a side note, it seems each class will have a different starting area, so expect some replayability should you choose to sample the 4 classes.Guild Cities also play a very important role in Dream Drops. Guilds will be able to collect materials and rare blueprints in order to construct buildings in their town, offering useful buffs and rare crafting locations. The town construction itself is quite detailed, to the point that you can literally spell out words from an aerial view of your city with trees, fountains, crafting houses, and other buildings. As your guild grows, so too does the amount of land available for you to build upon.Of course it would be sad if this joy was limited to only the Guild Leader (as it is in most games), but the 5 tiered guild member ranking system in Dream Drops can be used to give limited access to the town builder to your closest guildies. This way you can come together and work in unison to build the perfect Guild Town for your group of friends. Now one of the major problems in the past with Guild Towns is that smaller guilds often lack the number of members to effectively run quests, gather materials, and build a prosperous guild town. Dream Drops partially alleviates this problem by allowing Guild Leaders to post player generated quests on a billboard in their Guild Town. Non-guildies can accept these quests, and work to fetch materials for the guild like little mercenaries. This does come at the cost of Guild Leaders having to fit the bill on the quest reward but it's a step in the right direction when players can generate their own quests for any purpose. In true Lucent Heart fashion, Dream Drops offers plenty of ways to customize your character without limiting your viability. Gem stones can be placed in a cross pattern on the character screen (with the horizontal bar focusing on physical and the vertical focusing on magical) to bolster your character's stats beyond their base level stats. This is entirely different from the fashion sets that can be obtained from the cash shop as well as various quests, offering you incredibly detailed character customization without having any impact on your character stats. Level requirements are also placed on the fashion, reserving the best looking items for players dedicated enough to reach endgame. Approximately 9 slots for fashion exist as well, so it shouldn't be too difficult if you try to reserve a unique look for yourself. As you level up, you gain access to new class promotions (2nd tier classes not yet announced!) as well as new skills to master, most consisting of 10 levels of upgrading. In fact so many diverse skills are available to you that it will take a good amount of time to eventually master all of the skills, and players will be forced to specialize themselves while leveling to maximize their power. This comes with a nice aesthetic bonus however as skills actually change in animation the closer they are to maximum level. This can range from some added sparkly particles to the Nutcracker charging on a glorious steed instead of wooden rocking horse. To keep things interesting, various events and minigames occur daily and change daily in Dream Drops. Players will be given a handy in-game calendar to keep track of these events and can even edit it to ignore certain events or send reminders to themselves and guildies for important calendar events. Speaking of convenient features, you can actually access both your mailbox and auction house from anywhere in the world! These even includes accepting mail attachments while out grinding mobs. The true Time Thieves are MMO companies that have forced players to return to town for these mundane tasks and Dream Drops is out to rectify this injustice.Though the game isn't even slated for release yet, the developers promise that the feud between Snow White and The Queen of Hearts is only the beginning. Expect an infusion of Asian fairy tales to join the roster of American and European stories in a post launch expansion!
