Smoltz misses cut by 27 strokes

VALDOSTA, Ga.Former Braves pitcher John Smoltz struggled in his Nationwide Tour debut, shooting a 15-over 87 on Saturday in the rain-delayed South Georgia Classic to miss the cut by 27 strokes.Double threatSome athletes aren't content with just one sport. He was even worse in the second round at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club,tera gold, with his 27-over 171 total nine strokes worse that any of the other 147 players who completed both rounds."Never in a million years did I think I would shoot those two rounds but it happened," Smoltz told MLB.com. "I'm going to learn from it and stick to recreational golf for right now until I get back to the point where I want to be."Smoltz spent nearly his entire career with Atlanta, becoming the only pitcher in major league history to post 200 wins and 150 saves. He pitched for Boston and St. Louis in 2009 before moving into broadcasting.He played in the South Georgia Classic on a sponsor exemption."It was a good opportunity and I don't regret it at all," Smoltz told MLB.com.
